For those of you that bothered to read the title, you are probably thinking "What the heck! Elsie Wollheim wasn't a scientist!" No, she wasn't but she is still important in the scheme of things.
Elsie Wollheim is one of the original Futurians, a group of science fiction writers. She was the daughter of a jeweler, and attended Hunter Collage for Bookkeeping, which she did, almost religiously for her father during the Great Depression. She joined the Futurians and published many of their books, and ended up writing her own book, afterwards classified as a Magazine, called Highpoints , that was a one hit wonder.
Now, do you know who she is? This is really tragic. She was a great Futurian, but unfortunately, she is not known, except in the "Spouse" position on any good websites because she married Donald Wollheim, another famous Futurian writer. She passed away in 1994 without a trace that she was even there.
Pass her story on.
